Supermodel Iman was named the 2010 CFDA fashion icon of the year on on the night of June 07. The legendary and ageless beauty is the first woman of color to receive such a prestigious award. She is now in the company of past recipients, such as, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Moss. Top designer Diane Von Furstenberg and president of the CFDA took Iman by surprised, who later said that she never knew this kind of award existed, when they proudly announced her name.
In celebration of her award, Barneys New York Creative Director Simon Doonan made a one-of-kind window installation that celebrates Iman’s 14-year run as a high-fashion model through a collage of images and quotations from luminaries such as Oprah Winfrey, Valentino, and Anna Wintour.All were asked to complete the phrase “Iman is . . . ”
