In a video message, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson apologized to the parents of Michael Brown. Brown was the teenager shot and killed last month by a police officer in Missouri. Personally, I believe the apology should have been in person and not videotaped. Jackson also apologized to peaceful protesters who felt he didn’t do “enough to protect their constitutional right to protest.”

Brown’s death sparked several weeks of outrage in Ferguson and across the country. The Justice Department and the FBI are assisting the local police in the investigation of Brown’s death. The police officer who killed Brown is on paid leave and as of yet has not been charged. The Ferguson police department has been criticized for how the case has been handled.
