Cleveland’s own, veteran soul singer-songwriter Bobby Womack died Friday.

TMZ reports Womack’s sister says he passed away in his sleep, but states the family doesn’t know the cause of death.

Bobby Womack started his musical career back in the ’60s as the lead singer of his family musical group “The Valentinos.” They scored their first #1 hit record, “It’s All Over Now” before the Rolling Stones released their version. Bobby went on to record a variety of hits including, “If You Think You’re Lonely Now.”

Although cause of death is unknown at this time, Bobby has dealt with his share of health problems including diabetes, pneumonia, colon cancer and the early signs of Alzheimer’s.
