The Hayti Heritage Center hosts its annual *Kwanzaa Celebration, Friday, December 27th, at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St, Durham, NC. Kugichagulia, Swahili for Self-Determination, is the focus of this year’s event. Resident “Jalibah” Zayd Malik Shakur will lead the dynamic opening and closing ceremonies. Performances include diasporic music from Elements of Percussion, jubilant and youthful dancing with Collage Dance Company, a healing “griot” session with The Magic of African Rhythm, and surprise guests!

Also, Dads Cooking For Collage will sell dinner plates with vegan and vegetarian options. Come early, plates go quickly. All proceeds benefit Collage Dance Company. Doors OPEN at 5PM. Ceremonies and performances 7PM-8:30PM
