As of today, new parking rates will be effective in the “purple zone” in Downtown Raleigh. The rate increase was included as part of the City’s 2013-14 Fiscal year budget. The hourly rate in this zone will increase from $1 per hour to $1.25 for on-street parking. Also, the rate for 15-minute spaces will increase from $0.25 to $0.50 and the 30-minute rate will increase from $0.50 to $0.75. Rates in all other zones will remain unchanged.

The purple zone is in the heart of Downtown. It includes Fayetteville Street and is bounded by Morgan Street to the north, Wilmington Street to the east, Lenoir Street to the south, and Salisbury Street to the west. Parking pay stations have a color decal attached to the top of each station. The decals are color-coded, making the identification of the parking zone easy.
