Our new Miss America is Indian-American and beautiful. However, with skin complexion being such an issue in India, some wonder if she’s too dark to be a beauty queen in India. The light skin vs. dark skin battle is alive and well in India!
For the most part, beauty queens in India are fair-skinned. In past years, “Dark Is Beautiful” campaigns have been launched to encourage people in South Asia to embrace all skin complexions.
