Funeral arrangements have been set for North Carolina’s civil rights giant Julius Chambers. Chambers was known for opening the state’s first integrated law firm in the 60s. He also served as chancellor of NCCU from 1993-2001.

The funeral will be held starting noon Thursday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte. There will be a public viewing for three hours before services begin.

Chambers died Friday after being in declining health for months. He was 76.
