Born Robert Dwayne “Bobby” Womack. He started his career as the lead singer of his family musical group The Valentinos and as Sam Cooke’s backing guitarist. Womack’s career spans more than 50 years and his styles of music include: R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country. In 2009, Womack was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In light of his sad diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, the TJMS honors one of the greatest song writers of all time Bobby Womack who has blessed us over the years with countless classics that are still able to strike you at the heart today; as Tom says, “if he can’t remember his lyrics, we will.”
