Facts about this event:

* The Durham County Department of Social Services encourages adults interested in foster parenting to learn more about how to provide a safe and nurturing home for children while they are in the custody of the agency.

* Qualified adults are invited to attend an upcoming recruitment session hosted by Durham County DSS on Thursday, December 8, 2011. The session will be held, from 6:30-8 p.m., at North Regional Library, located at 221 Milton Road in Durham.

* The main focus of foster care, a temporary living arrangement for abused, neglected and dependent children who need a safe place to live, is to reunite children with their families. However, there are situations where children in foster care become eligible for legal adoption.
